Anyone got one of those new USB2 DMK cameras (me is tempted :twisted:
)

Not yet, but I will have when I come back from the States in March!
:twisted:

And you are totally welcome to bring your rig up to the hill
some night and have a go with it.
That is however after I pry it out of Dave L's cold dead fingers.

Hi John
Impatience got the better of me and I decided to purchase one of those firewire cameras, in particular the Image Source DFK 41AF02.AS model as I got a good deal on it for 538 Euro. This is the colour version which suits me at the moment as I am just getting into astrophotography. The thoughts of fiddling about with a filter wheel/filters added to the image train and operating it remotely (and the extra costs involved) doesn’t appeal to me at the moment, perhaps that next step is something for the future when I get more experienced and upgrade the equipment!
John, it’s a pity your not in the Meath area, I would dearly like you to try this camera, in the hands of an experienced astrophotographer I am sure the results would be amazing!

Clear skies (or does that mean its now going to rain for a week)!

I can imagine the conversation

Me: Frank, I like the camera, can I see it
Frank : sure, there you go
a few minutes pass
Frank: Dave, are you done with the camera,
Me: what camera ?? :lol:

Mike, that's a grand purchase, looking forward to seeing the results.

Sounds great Mike. Look forward to seeing some images from you in the coming weeks. Like you, I would probably go for the colour camera until I am more experienced.
Can I ask where you purchased your camera?
