What if it is connected to Franks laptop at the time? There is plenty of room under that 20" mirror to conceal all

I can imagine the conversation
Anyone got one of those new USB2 DMK cameras (me is tempted
)
Not yet, but I will have when I come back from the States in March!
And you are totally welcome to bring your rig up to the hill
some night and have a go with it.
That is however after I pry it out of Dave L's cold dead fingers.
Me: Frank, I like the camera, can I see it
Frank : sure, there you go
a few minutes pass
Frank: Dave, are you done with the camera,
Me: what camera ??
Mike, that's a grand purchase, looking forward to seeing the results.

Thanks guys,
John, I purchased the camera from the good folks at OPT (Oceanside Photo & Telescope); there was a special deal on it so I said why not. I have purchased other items from OPT in the past and there is always great savings to be had coupled with top class customer service that’s second to none.
The link for information about the camera from OPT is here:
www.optcorp.com/product.aspx?pid=10624&a...re%20camera&st=2
And the cable to plug into my laptop from the camera (4 / 6 pin Firewire) is here on OPT:
www.optcorp.com/product.aspx?pid=10108&a...ire%20cABLE&st=2
Fast track delivery (and Insurance) to Ireland was about 40 Euro and tracking number provided.
Clear skies

I know It is poor. But I put my 1.3 mpx camera phone to the eye piece of my 10" dob - and photographed the moon.
I am not good with technology and don't have any real desire to get into astro photography - But i would like one good shot for my living room wall

Mike,
This is a very good wide field shot of the Moon showing all the main features. Is this your first image with the new camera? Also, is this your first ever image of the Moon in astrophotography?

yes. It is a Vodafone 1.3 mega pix camera phone held up to the 15mm eyepiece with Barlow X2 on 10" star hopper Dob. ....not very good, but I might try the 6 mega pik camera gathering dust in the drawer at home
