ISS & Shuttle tonight - who's up for imaging it!? was created by Frank Ryan
Well, it looks like the whole country is gonna be clear
tonight and the ISS with Shuttle attached is passing over too
at around 18:50.
I've seen a few people including myself
posting images they got over the last two days.
It'd nice to see what we could come up with tonight
be it, hi mag webcam shots, single frame DSLR shots, trail shots, movies...
Just a thought...
I'll be attempting to get a better shot than the ones I got on Saturday anyway.

Actually,
If all go's to plan when it passes over,
there will be spacewalk in progress and the instillation
of the Columbus module underway!
Check Nasa TV schedule...
www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/mission_schedule.html
EVA No.1 begins at 14.35GMT

Yes, I'll be givnig it another go tonight Frank. Slightly tempted to have a go with the webcam this time. Tonight's pass is quite low from my latitude - tomorrows is better but it's early - I may not be home in time.
Good luck all!

There's a space walk underway right about now. Iwas looking at NASATV a while ago and it was about to get going.

How do you go about tracking the ISS with the goTo scope?

I don't.
I set the scope up as normal.
(as if I was imaging say, The Moon)
I align the red dot finder to the image on screen 100%
(so where ever I point the red dot, it records that)
The I disengage both drives and when the ISS/Shuttle
pass over head I click record and then, by holding the
OTA with both hands, I pan and tilt along with the ISS
trying to keep the red dot aimed on it.
It's not an exact science.
The problem with go-to's is that they are fine
for visual tracking but to get an image on the
webcam frame for long enough, by hand is better.
I'm not sure how accurate other scopes are but the majority of
people that take these shots do it that way.
Think of it as spaceship fishing!
