nice shot there CJ - i like the fact its not a basic one/two tone moon pic. youve got a range of greys and dare i say it, blues in there. got any bigger shots? more details?

Hi Paul
I only took a couple of images the other night, it was purely me messing about with the new webcam that arrived that day and like a fool I didn't make note of the settings as I was just getting used to the interface
Didn't realise I had a reasonable image until later. The original image is 800 x 600 and needed sharpening in PS, but it's not bad.
cheers

Fantastic 1st image CJ. Lots of lovely colours. Really sharp details too.
Would love to see more.
Is it a phillips toucam pro you have?
I'm getting better at imaging the moon with just my cam and tripod. Imaging through the scope for me is hit and miss without the proper adapter.
Here's one i made earlier:

Hi Paul
Yes it's the latest Philips SPC900NC (Toucam III)
got mine here www.modernastronomy.com/camerasPlanetary.html
Seems really good so far, although I'm having trouble getting Saturn with it.
In the settings for the camera what should I be using for frame rate, shutter speed and all the other settings and as for Registax, well!!! I'm used to working with Graphics programs and HTML/ASP code everyday, but Registax is a real steep learning curve getting it to do what I want it to.
I'm sure it'll come to me
cheers

Sorry CJ i dont know the 1st thing about webcamming. I was just curious as to if it was a toucam cuz all the lads use them with great results and i am trying to decide whether to invest in a toucam or a Neximage.
Comparing results of both online (taken with many different apeture sizes), i am leaning more towards the Toucam.
I can only imagine how difficult it is to image Saturn with a webcam and scope. I have enough trouble just keeping up with it in my scope.
That sucker zips across the FOV. Nothing to do with my polar alignment...cuz that is pretty spot on.
Sure is a beautiful sight. I find my deep yellow filter works VERY well when observing it.
