That image is the best 1000 frames out of 5000, using my "newly aquired" DMK 31AF03 Monochrome firewire camera (I am still at the "playing around with the settings" stage). I also used a red filter to increase the contrast. The scope is a CGE 11 inch SCT.

WOW !!! what a crisp Clavius you got there Steve
The two bright points within the dark shadowed area are I think two high points on the rim of deeply shadowed Porter. I have them in my sketch so that photo is very close to what I saw that evening.

Tycho is your crater there for sure John, steep sides and central mountain scream Tycho
