Hi
Here is a shot of part of the Veil nebula taken during an SAC observing night in Boher on the 31st May 09 (NGC 6960). Its just a single 5 minute frame taken with a Canon 450D with the CGE11 at f6.3.

When I was looking at the frame I noticed a distinctly greenish object (marked) which I can't find on the maps or photos. Anyone any idea what this might be (artifact from the CLS filter, small planetary nebula or passing comet)? I wish I had taken more frames.

Looks cometary to me...
If you have more data on time, RA/DEC and your focal length plus a reasonable image, the numbers could be punched into Astrometrica. That'll help...

Hmmmmmmm......
According to the Camera it was taken at 00.35am on the 31st May 09. The scope should have been at 1760mm assuming the focal reducer was working properly. The RA and DEC I have no idea about. I assume it is somewhere near RA 20:45.6 DEC +30:43.

Well spotted John.
What are the chances of finding out what it was?

jeepers John, nothing gets by you !! Thats some going to see notice an object like that.
I'd be amazed it that was a filter/imaging artifact!! It doesnt look like one.
I had a look in starrynight 5.86 with comets/satellites/asteroids updated and all databases in it up full and it sees nothing in that location. The coordinates it gives me are RA20h 44.464arcm & Dec 30degrees 31.439arcm.
The star to the immediate left of it is HD335025 (TYC2687-2264-1) at mag 11.25 and the star to the 4 oclock position of it is USNO J2044282-303015 at mag 12.55.
The star to the 7 oclock position is USNO J2044331+303208 and is magnitude 14.75, so whatever you cought is in the same ball park as it.
I also had a look in uranometria and no surprise there is nothing in there for it.
I have to say it looks very cometary to me , but given the wide field of view of the image you cant discount that it might be a tiny planetary nebula given that it has a tiny faint disk around it, but I doubt it to be honest, it looks like a comet to me.
You must follow up with a shot of the same area ASAP and see if its still there !
