I am on several "mailing lists" where the contents are not spread over the Internet. I have no problem with the other webs on this site.

I'm not sure I follow here...perhaps you could expand a little?

What would you see as the advantages of not having the info on the internet?
In what form do your other "mailing lists" operate in? Are they e-mail only?

This place was set up with the express intention of being an online bulletin board .... what is there to think through? As I have said before this is not a mailing list and is not trying to be one. It is a bulletinboard system and is doing an excellent job at being one.
