Hi Michael,
Glad to see you here, a pity about missing us at the carpark, that particular night we didnt hang around too much as we were eager to get up on the hill.
Looking forward to seeing you at the club meeting on Wednesday 14th or if we get to the hill on Friday or Saturday.

Thanks for the welcome Eamonn A
I didnt realise being near the sea and mountains was adding to
the cloud problem here, and it is bad, ive often seen 2 or 3
weeks go by with nothing to see in the sky.
south of the curliews eh!
im kinda formiliar with some of that area so i can imagine that
it is pritty good against light pollution.
cheers
Derek.

hi Barberskum
ya i see what u mean about the site in the burren, your totaly
exposed to the wind, a killer if your taken pictures, other than
that it looks very good.
iv also had an experience with a high power outside light, only last
week i was in a car park that i observe from, i wasnt long ther and
one of those lights came on from a nearby house and lit up the car park
like it was daytime, well that spoiled that night.
but anyway that is what were up against.
derek

Thanks Derek. Never thought of Parkes Castle. Must try that. That probably was me in Knocknarea before Christmas. There was somebody there with a silver car observing too. Maybe you. I couldn't stay long that night. Next time I will call over and say hi.

Hello everyone!
I've been reading the forum for a while, and have recently taken the plunge and joined.
I am a complete newbie to astronomy and over the last couple of weeks I have been navigating the skies with my eyes Version 2.1!!!.
I bought a pair of Celestron 15x70 Binoculars yesterday to look at the seven sisters being occulted (is that the right term?) by the moon, but in my part of Newbridge the sky was cloudy and there was a fog/mist too. Typical!
I hope the weekend is clear.
Anyway, from what I've read everyone seems really nice and helpful on this forum and I hope I can learn from all the experience gathered here.
Thanks.
Gareth.
