Welcome aboard Sean! How often do you get home to Donegal to get those dark skies in your sights?

Cheers for the welcome lads!
I try and get home as often as I can, but it's gotten harder and harder as the works been piled on;)
I still don't have a telescope yet, but for the past few weeks I've been using my 10x50 binoculars to observe the cosmos during the clear skys It's been a good week so far...roll on the summer
I'm now able to spot most constellations, and some other formations with the help Stellarium!
Is there much of an astonomy following in the Northwest??
Good luck

How about a lend of a telescope to get ye started ?
I have two on on offer right now , one a 70 mm Refractor and the other a 4 inch GoTo NextStar.
Where are you ? are you interested in having one ?
The catch is , you give a commitment to show the public ( people in your village) something in the sky ie public outreach, sharing the sky, when you are ready.
Then you give it back to me when you are fed up with it , to pass on again to somebody else who loves and wishes a look at the sky.

Hiyas all,
Just a quick intro from myself.
I am living in North Kildare and recently purchased a Celestron NexStar 8SE. I had a small telescope when I was younger but nothing major.
Currently I am taking every opportunity to get out and view the skies, mainly watching the Moon, Saturn and Jupiter at the moment.
Just getting used to finding stuff again using the GoTo and Stellarium.
Just had another late night and have a few questions which I will post up tomorrow.
Cyas around!
