Stopped on a bog road on the way home around 02:55hrs this morning. Sky was very transparent and almost looked like Winter. It was nice to see the Pleaides again, nice and high, with Taurus on its side along the horizon.

Spotted 2 Perseids in the 8 minutes I stopped to have a look. 1 came directly from the radiant. Perseus was riding very high. No hint of Moon in the sky either. Pity it won't look like this on Saturday next...

The forecast for next Saturday looks OK. Poor weather all week, but looks like it's going to break for Saturday night. No Rain, 3% cloud. Check out Metcheck.com.
Also the moon will be about 17 deg in the East SouthEast.
Hope this forecast holds (7 days is a bit long).

Clear Skies,

7 days is abit of a long shot for but at least thats some kind of good news, it would be great if the sky was good for the perseids next weekend.

Seanie and others, I uploaded this 2mb wav to my backup webpage on Eircom, it was recorded at 9-30am this am on 48.2501 mhz, the main carrier is a high powered Tv station in near Madrid. you can hear many meteor reflections, none too dramatic at this time, there is nearly a constant weak carrier probably due to weak enhancement by Sporadic E
All the best and good observing

Sky cleared up for a couple of hours last night for the first time in a month so I went out to setup the scope.

Forgot all about the meteor shower so it was a nice surprise to see a couple streaking in from Perseus as I aligned on Dubhe at around midnight. They really are spectacular.

Pretty neat Charles. So most of those low frequency radar blips are meteors passing between us and Madrid?
