Solar Eclipses from Ireland was created by Frank Ryan
I was in Dave L's house the other day and we were discussing
what you would actually see for some of the upcoming Solar Eclipses
if you stayed here to observe them
These few make for interesting events.
2011 Jan 04 Partial - Europe, Africa, c Asia
The sunrise will be slightly darker than normal this particular morning.
At around 8.50am the rising sun will be partially eclipsed by the moon and 4th contact will
occur approx 9.25 AM
Should make for an interesting sunrise.
2015 Mar 20 Total - Iceland, Europe, n Africa, n Asia
[Total: n Atlantic, Faeroe Is, Svalbard]
If you can't make it to Svalbard then maybe a trip up to our
friends in the North might be the idea for this.
Again, a morning event the Moon just misses making it total for us here in Ireland.
Still, a lovely sight for sure is in store and obvious darkening I'm sure.
I was surprised just how much the Moon obscures the Sun for this one.

And if you think that one is a near miss check out the Total
in 2026, it's literally just off the coast!
2026 Aug 12 Total - N. America, w Africa, Europe
[Total: Arctic, Greenland, Iceland, Spain]
For those that don't take a boat trip to see totality,
the sun is obscured much more that in 2015.
Trick here this time would be to head to the South West.

Great ultra long range weather forecasting there Frank.
So we can expect cloud and rain on 04/01/11, 20/03/15 and 12/08/26 yeah??

Indeed.
I should edit the dates with: 100% chance of cloud.
Actually, a better idea would be to change the title
Of this section from
Celestial Events
To
Celestial Events - Weather Permitting!!
At least we wouldnt have to keep saying it
In our posts then.

2015- If a ship was chartered it would be a bit cheaper picking folks up from Dublin? no flights needed..
again probably just cloud chasing..
How does an eclipse flight work?
Is it just premium price for a window seat and a bit cheaper for looking through someones ears at the eclipse?
Then what what about the other side of the plane?
Or do they just fly around in circles?
Have they invented a perspex roofed aeroplane yet? now that would be fantastic!!

Well the idea was to show what youd see under ideal conditions
If you stayed put.
But obviously one will always think about getting to totality!
Well youd have to pay me to go out on a boat that time of year
In the north atlantic.
Thinking 'Deadliest Catch'
A charter plane (or balloon!)
