The Cornelia Marie isnt doing the may-west with the Kind Crab so we could prob strike a deal with them for a charter!
Some fun mounting a scope on that deck in that weather!
a weather baloon with a live feed to a pub with an open fire!!

Great info there Frank. I already checked out getting to the Faroes for the 2015 eclipse and it's looking well difficult! There are no flights from Ireland and no flights from the Uk at that time of year. I met people on the Costa Classica who were interested in trying to get to the Faroe's and then hire a boat if the weather permitted. It looks to me like we'd have to go via the Netherlands or Denmark which might make it an arduous and expensive trip to watch clouds get darker!

For 2015, I think the only trip worth thinking of is to charter a plane TBH.

2015 just has to be a plane trip.
Go on all the boats you want but the chances of seeing it from sea level are almost zero, clouds will more then likely obscure it. Think of st Patricks day + 3 days, cold, wet, I cant rememebr the last time I got a tan watching the parade.

The plane has already been organised...
I'll let you know when it becomes available. It will be flying from Germany much like to Polarflug of 2008.
