I read somewhere that this will be visible from the south cost of Ireland, but for a few mins.
Is it true? Is there anything planed by any of the clubs to see this?

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

It's visible from anywhere in Ireland, it's true that it will not be visible for too long, the transit will be well advanced by this stage.
You will need a good eastern horizon to get the best of it.
The IAS/SDAS is planning to observe it, the location has yet to be decided, Dun Laoghaire has been mentioned, details will be forthcoming.

A group of us from Shannonside are planning to observe it either locally or up north depending on the weather. Really looking forward to this one. Saw the last one by projection in 04. Would like to see it thru a scope this time.

Terry Moseley has written an article on the choice of location here...
irishastro.org.uk/venustransit.html
Weather permitting the IAA will be observing the event from a location on the Antrim Coast Road - see our website nearer the time.
