Good stuff all, That's a great response :D I suppose we'd kick off with creating an Photographic Atlas Folder, Then at first creating a constellation by Constellation files, followed maybe by wide shots of that constellation, mapped the way John did it with all it's labels, also included would be deep sky objects in that one constellation :?: A 'What to expect from your location'
for light pollution /dark sky coul also be put in?

I agree with Albert, we'd need to post hi res images so would there be a limit in this folder to which we could all post? You're talkin' about say 2MB ??? files here - would that be right??

As regards image sizes, I guess we'll go for what Bart recommends ?

Woah there horsie! 2MB?? Thats crazy! One should be able to acgieve a hi-res photo at even 500KB max! And that would be sufficient to cover 3/4 of an A4 sheet with great detail!

Won't somebody please think of the 56Kers!

For the final images, after someone has done the proper compression then they can be shrunk. But we will need to be working with the real data, a png file from an 8megapixel camera is well over 500K :-)

We can send seanie the thumbnails :-)

The again, as a colleague of mine used to say, never underestimate the bandwidth of a car load of CD's. !

Cheers,
