I ordered an eyepiece and filter from Telescope-Service on the 20th of February. As of this morning there was no sign of delivery, then the post arrived and with it a card from UPS stating that they attempted to deliver a package on the 24th February without success. The postcard stated that if I did not pick up my parcel by the 2nd of March it would be sent back to Germany. The postcard was sent on the 28th February and I recieved it today, the 5th March, 3 days after the items were returned. How long does it take for a postcard to be delivered from FInglas to Dun Laoghaire, about 10 miles, thank you An Post.
Needless to say I got onto UPS, or Oops, I was speaking to a gentleman who informed me that the driver needed more information as to my home address? When I asked about he was very evasive, I then asked how it was possible that they could get the address right on the postcard and was promply told that the postman knows all the addresses. (Make what you will of that).
I was left with the impression that whoever I was talking to had no interest in my problem and I got the further impression that the driver made little or no attempt to make the delivery, do they not provide Oops drivers with road maps?
I feel terribly let down by this company, Telescope-Service charged me €18 for delivery, they will be charged €18 for the return of the package to Germany and I will be charged another €18 for another delivery. Neither Telescope-Service nor myself are to blame, it is a delivery company.
Sorry about the rant, but I'm so infuriated.

We've had similar experiences with ParcelForce.
My wife's solution was to use DHL, and order something online 2 or 3 times a week  until the DHL drivers were all on a first-name basis. Worked like a charm -- even my stuff always gets here now.

Take them to the small claims court!
They have treated you like s**t and shouldn't be let away with that kind of c**p.
Bart.

I really must think of something interesting to use as a tag line!

Sorry to hear about that.
You would think that a company like Oops would provide GPS devices for their drivers!
It is disgraceful to hear that they returned the package as undeliverable.
My tip: I usually get the shipper to put my mobile phone on any parcels destined for me and this has worked every time.

Hi guys
As I stated in my rant, I just don't think that the driver made any real effort, it strikes me that it was most likely the end of the day and he decided it would be better to go home and make the claim that he couldn't find the address.
One other thing, the card stated the delivery was attempted on the 24th, that was a Saturday, so chances are the delivery was attempted the previous day, the 23rd, they can't even get that detail right.
I'll definitely be putting my mobile number on my next order.

Sorry to hear about that Paul. You know I ahve heard a lot of bad things about all parcel delivery service providers - it is all relative.
However, your rant made me remember this post here:
www.irishastronomy.org/boards/viewtopic....19&highlight=ups
where UPS deliverd a Meade LX200 8" SCT, and the box was banged around, and the subsequent corrector plate on the scope was smashed! Have a look at it!
