I use broadband but we've only had broadband at home since just after Christmas. Up to then I would only really access the site from work as the site just to long to load.

But now I frequently access it from home (don't always log in though)

Hey John are you a member of any other astro boards there's a lot of them out there. I drop in on this one from time to time to read this very type of post, i find alberts.......... very amusing but the admins in this board in general seem to be full of their own importance i also find this amusing. A lot of the folk on other boards are usually very friendly and helpful just drop me an email and i will gladly send you on some links to a couple of uk forums where you wont find a bad attitude, these people are just passionate about astronomy and don't have time for the cat fighting and smart one liners that seem to be prevelant here on IFAS. There is another Irish Astronomy forum starting soon so hang in there and you will have a choice on who you want to talk to

Well,
sorry you feel that there is bad attitude here, we're all about fairness and getting the best non biased opinions to fellow astronomers without a financial agenda, if you dont like it here atleast you are free to say so, you cant please all of the people all of time. If your telling me that there is no one on these boards who is passionate about astronomy then you haven't been on these boards much.
I look forward to seeing this new forum you mention to see how it operates.

we're allowing bigger images then cloudynights, one of the best astro sites out there, can you explain to me how this is bad ??
We have to cater for the diallup people, we try and cater for everyone.
I for one dont like this new rule, but I do see the logic in it so I wont throw a wobbly and will go along with it.

I am quite happy to show images at the max 800 pixel resolution. My ccd at max resolution is 2048x2048 and I am pretty sure I have been guilty in the past of sticking in images at this scale. Will do better in the future but sometimes you get a bit over excited about a good image and forget the rules  .

Anyone know how to insert a thumbnail with a url link?

If the mods don't want big images on the site
then just post up a link to the image.
Whats all the fuss about!?
