We had to cancel our star party in the National Park due to cloud and showers :-( very disappointing indeed. Tonight and tomorrow do not look much better either.

Did anyone have any luck last night?

SAC in Limerick ran a Jupiter watch event last night, we had clear skies for the 2.5 hours we were there.
It starting clouding over at 10.30 so we called it a night.
We handed out info to people passing by and offered views of the planet for anyone interested, all in all a good night.

Kerry Astronomy club held our event last night too. We had intermittent views of the planet but there was cloud coming and going all night over the hills to the south. We had loads of time to talk to those that dropped by in between the clearings and all went well. We saw the reappearance of Io, the shadow transit and nearly got to see the disappearance of a third moon.
We also saw two bright, slow meteors, Orionids? Limiting magnitude in town was about 2.5!

The weather has cleared up substantially here, so we're gonna go ahead with it again tonight.
It windy but the sky is clear.

Well done Kerry AC and David SAC , its raining again and very windy here

Hope you guys are taking lots of pics and getting good feedback
on your efforts. I look forward to seeing the pics.

Hi everyone, I would like to finish up the Galilean Nights effort , ie write ups , photo's et cetra. I know the weather was crap and not many got to do anything at all, but whatever was achieved should be noted and logged.

Lets hope the global public outreach events in the New Year will be served with clear skies.

Thank you all for your enthusiasm !!!
