the lidel etx 70 is back.
I have to say it would be a good "starter" scope, given the price, but dont expect to see the cassini division in Saturns rings with any great clarity.

How big is the scope, I know it fits in a rucksack, but is there alot of packeting because I do not have a car just a motorcycle so anything that I get I have to carry on my back.

Briano, the box is big, but I'd say you'd manage it just about. Get the bus you lazy person!!!

Briano,
You should have no problem carrying it on a motorbike. Strap the tripod across the carrier or pillion seat and the rest goes in the back pack.
You also have the advantage of arriving at the observing site ready dressed for the cold!

CBR 600 (fair weather only though)

Just a quick thought. This is an ideal recruiting opportunity for astronomy clubs around the country.
Would handing a small leaflet to each purchaser of a telescope at your local stores on monday am offering advice and help with the scope and its future use, and of course telling them when and where you meet and also a plug for this board as a means of contact.
