Thats fantastic Trev, are you going to the WSP this year and if so will you be bringing the new scope with you ?
In terms of baffling, what are you going to do on that front ?

Yep, I plan on going to it - work permitting. I missed it the previous two years. Will definitely bring the dob and will probably bring the Megrez 90 and maybe the ZS66 on an altaz mount as well if I have enough space.

Anyway, I gotta get a pic of my dob looking like a dinky beside the Obsession

Now that I'm back from my hols I'm trying to get this dob finished asap.
Below is what the secondary cage looks like after this morning:

Some of the outer layer of the marine ply on the rings peeled off a little, so I removed the loose bits, and treated the timber again. Hope to attach on the spider and secondary shortly. Then I need to cut the focuser board, drill a hole in it for the focuser and attach on the focuser to the board. I have a sheet of kydex too which I will also attach on. That will complete the secondary cage, which was the part of the scope I was most worried about.

Three things I still need to get. I'd appreciate any suggestions as to where I can get them.
1) Teflon. i ordered this as part of the order with the spider but it appears they forgot to put it in. Anyone have any spare or know where I can buy it without needing to go though a mail order process?
2) A sheet of formicia for the ground baord. I tried all the shops around but could not but a sheet of this stuff. Anyone know where I can get it please?
3) Sling material. Anyone have a car seat belt they no longer need? :)

Cheers,

Very nicely made Michael,
One thing, is the part that came off, unser one of the clamps, if so you now have very slightly differing heights for the poles now.

The formica can be got at B&Q, although not the small size you want though, I do have some here if you want it.
As for a sling, try a local scrap yard.

The piece that flaked off is tiny, fractions of a mm in thickness. Well within the tolerences of the accuracy of cutting the tube.

What size sheet of formica did you get?
