Once again, I dislike being insistent but John's description says that the two drives physically jam against each other, which I take to mean the covers. There isn't any configuration in which they should do that because the two axes are perpendicular. He cannot train the drives correctly while the motors are jamming against each other.

Therefore he shouldn't, in my opinion as a long time tinkerer with things mechanical, try anything else until he's figured out what the assembly problem is.

I wouldn't mind but I only replaced the motor through meade a few weeks ago and just started aligning the scope. This scope is causing me so many problems. I will go back to meade as you suggested.

Thanks for your comments.

So you or Meade disassembled the motor assembly recently?? maybe the motor is on the mount in a wrong orientation, say rotated 180 degrees which makes it too high and is why it is colliding with the mount, I'm not very familiar with the mount so I don't know if this is possible but it does sound like an assembly error to me.

Sorry guys i probably didnt explain it right,

I ordered a new motor from maede and replaced the new one with the old one, using only one screw that was holding the old box (in which the motors are in) and attached the new motor with the same screw. I was told by the person i was dealing with that all i had to do to replace the old motor was to 'unscrew' only one screw at the back of the RA motor box(which was faulty) and screw the same screw once i'd had the box correctly mounted on the scope.

I could try to upload a picture if it would help.

Thanks :D

A thought occurs to me here.....

You haven't by any chance managed to put the OTA on the wrong way around? As you look at scope in its "German North" position, the Dec motor should be to left of the OTA as you look at it. It is quite possible to set it up so that it is to the right but it won't then line up properly.

This is exactly what I was thinking also as I have an ancient manual Eq mount that can go the wrong way around but will hit the mount, I was waiting for the pic. before I said it.
