I'd much prefer to pay a higher price not only to know that the item was

Ask Roland Christen - not one AP scope leaves the factory without his personal quality test and say-so. He would not put a below-standard OTA on the market. Period. Now that's conviction especially when its your living...

I don't know Roland personally but I have one of his mounts and can attest to the quality being of the highest order. I'm sure Anto can attest to the quality of the optics... Oh yes, I have been on the waiting list for a Starfire 160 for 5 years now... Apparently its beyond 7 years of a wait. What does that tell you? And of course, Sir will be paying a lot more than a Far East scope.

I'd be pretty sure that Roland is of the type who is happy to drive a Toyota but would really love a Bentley. He'd have no problem with Far East scopes but I can imagine his mantra - "you get what you pay for". Of course, if were a Far East scope you'd get it off-the-shelf with no wait. Which is fair enough. And that's business. Simple enough I reckon...

Of course, one wouldn't slap an AP scope in an old bag and let it roll around the back seat. But if you got a Far East OTA at a fraction of the price perhaps you would. Rather like not parking your Bentley in certain neighbourhoods... Of course, if you had an AP scope, you'd probably get a Bentley just to transport it

I guess it all boild down to what you want to do with the equipment and how much of a compromise (if any) you are prepared to make wrt quality.
