Competition is good (for the end-user), and it's nice to see another underdog come onto the market.

Lunt Solar Systems has started. We will soon have a website where you can post comments and questions, but until that time we will use tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/luntsolar/ so that all can have equal access.

Now if we can convince the sun to cooperate and end this solar minimum!

Best regards,

And here's another product they have launched:

Single Pass 100mm Telescope with Internal Etalon

The LS100T/Ha is a complete Solar Telescope. The refractor based system has a precision aligned air spaced doublet with a 100mm aperture. The focal length is 800mm providing a ~7.3mm image thru a 12mm blocking filter. Course focus adjustment via a slide tube. Fine adjustment is achieved with a High Precision Crayford style focuser with the addition of the 10:1 reduction standard.

An internal etalon with tune adjustment allows for a <0.8 Angstrom bandpass.

The Internal module will have an optimized collimating system to reduce of axis abberation.

MSRP: US$3,995.00 (currently accepting pre-orders for delivery late spring 2008)

The system may also be purchased with a 100mm External Filter for a bandpass of <0.5. Call for details....

Prices are subject to change without notice.

This is much cheaper than the original Solarmax 90 scope. Interesting times ahead...

Thanks for posting here and letting us know what's happening,
Just out of curiosity, can I ask how did you know we were discussing it, more like how did you find this site ?

I may have mentioned it once or twice on Cloudy Nights as the only other publicly accessible forum that I regularly use :)

Could that be it, Russ?
