Orion Optics..?

Hi all,

I just found out my telescope is an

Orion Optics 8" F/4.5 860mm

Motorised mount with tracker and camera for it but no soft wear either

As its my first scope im wondering peoples opinion on this type?

Im think of maybe upgrading this year to maybe 9.25 celestron would that be a good choice or what would be??

I hear that Hubble thingy is damaged goods....

Aside from that, I think it depends. If you like visual, you're going to want a lot more of an aperture bump than from 8" to 9.25". On the other hand, if you really get into photography (particularly of galaxies, nebulae, etc.), then you're probably going to want something that has a shorter focal length than the C9.25 -- the 80mm to 130mm APO refractors are very popular for this.

The C9.25 is an all-around scope: decent at all things but not great at any. If you're getting a second scope, I'm not sure it's a good choice. The one place I'd still recommend it would be for planetary photography.

So, if you like visual I'd look at a 12" to 14" Dob, while if you like deep-space photography I'd look at the Williams Optics refractors, and for planetary photography the C9.25 would be hard to beat.
