The real point of a Dob is a large portable aperture, no other scope type can do it.
If you want big aperture that is transportable to a dark site, a big dob is for you, I find the 20" easier to transport around then my 12" Meade SCT.
You don't have to buy one new, jump on a good priced second hand scope like I did, you'll save literally thousands of euros this way!!, I'll never look back.
As for celestron been the best out there, the answer is no. (I own a celestron refractor so I'm not celestron bashing here).

As Carl said elsewhere.... the best scope for you is the one that suits you and your needs.
Because im in a wheelchair i was advised to go for the 90EQ because the eyepiece is at the lower end of the scope. A scope with an eyepiece at the top of it would be useless for me because i cant stand up for hours on end looking into it(you would think i would have thought about that). Also the 90EQ is a lot lighter then most scopes (still weighs 22Lbs though)................but it is pretty easy to move it around.
It may not be the best in the world (actually i know its not) but its best for me.
I just hope to God that i never get a look through one of those Obsession scopes..............cuz i will never feel the same about my 90EQ again.

Why do you think the US army planes don't use Shannon so much these days.
