wooooah??
I have to take issue with you John on one thing you said,.
I didnt think the last number of forums were a waste ??

So Michael, Seanie and I have a bit of banter, whats the harm in that ?
Dont read it if you dont want to, no one is been forced here.
The days this place becomes full of stuffy essays on astronomy, is the last day I'll come to this site.
So we're not talking about the quantum effeciency of the CCD detectors on the hubble space telescope, this site is for people who have an interest in astronomy to have an online chat and discuss astronomy relayed topics. It keeps us all in touch between star parties.

As for AI related posts here, I couldn't care less either way.

One thing I would agree with you on is that posts can be "lost" too soon.
I would like to see on the front page changed with a list of active forums (added to in the previous 7 days) as opposed to a list of individual posts.

Please John, dont take my reply personally, this is just the way I feel about it.

Hardly thought you ever waffled Al. You've added some worthwhile websites and information you have found on the web when you were supposed to be working for Sun!!

My twopence worth, afraid ill have to support Seanie, Dave, Shane and the lads here, it was my intention to post here last night expressing my displeasure at seeing AI sponsored meetings mentioned on this board, I have no doubt Eugene did not intend it to be so and to just inform us of the forthcoming event which would have been fantastic without the AI bit. AI or the people behind it is part of a limited company with a vested interest in making money first.
Several years ago when I was "GREEN" I emailed AI and ask them to link the CAC page from theirs, I did not even get a reply
The difference between "them and us" is that Irishastronomy.org is providing a FREE service to Irish Astronomers, no cash/questions asked and I feel it deserves my loyalty and support, im sure AI has a forum more suitable than astronomy.org for letting people know where/when its meetings are to be held

Anyone that knows me knows that I wholeheartly disagree with AI / A&S,
the way they do business, their attitude to other astronomical bodies, well basically everything about them.

However...... perhaps we should take the high moral ground here. Should we play tit-for-tat with them? Should we do "an eye for an eye". I think "no". Lets be better than AI,... lets not leave ourselves open to be accused of all the thing we hate about AI.......

...... Just a thought!
