To be official IFAS ones, yes, probably.
However, "IFAS Ultras" t-shirts would not need approval ;-)

You will have to enlighten us Albert! Do you mean straight forward T-shirts with an IFAS logo plain and simple on it!

OH GOSH !!
I go away for a few days and when I come back I have to push the door of my computer open there is so much mail behind it :o
Just some points of clarification
A My initial post re above was in reply to a question posted on this site looking for info.
B These telescopes and facility do not belong to AI Theyre Cork Inst of Technology's
C Due to my attendance last night Dr Niall Smith Astrophysics Dept has invited IFAS to become part of this project,to assist with observations of Extra Solar Planets,NEO's and GRB'sand to also have independant data to cross ref their data, the potential is great.

I will be writing up a full report on the meeting over the w/end but will be posting it on www.deiseastronomy.com as it is easier for me to do it that way and I'll post a link ,If any of you can then upload to .org feel free.

I spoke to Dr Smith after the meeting and explained that I was not an AI member only a mag subscriber and told him about IFAS,he had come across the .org site before and was now glad to meet someone from it and as I said , would be only too pleased for us to have input into the project,
I told him about the Obs Challenges and he seemed impressed.
These guys are at the forefront of remote robotic development and when this gets up and running fully robotically it'll be the only one in Europe !
Interesting times ahead.
PS Anyone interested in applying for either the franchise to run the new restaurant OR the new ASTRO EXHIBITION CENTRE,these will be advertised on the national papers next Friday
PPS their website wont be online until all franchises are in place.

Nice one Albert
Just for you I did question the Cork City co member on their lighting policy and I was left in "the dark",with that non committal reply I asked him why didn't they take alraf out of Waterford Co Councils book and instigate a ban on all uplighting ...awaiting reply,in my own small way I did as much as I could .

Well well well,

albertw wrote "You went disguised as David Moore?"

Is it not any wonder that Al thinks AI ignores him when he's coming out with childish immature comments like this? :?

I know some of you really despise David Moore and Astronomy Ireland in general but so what? AI will be around for a long time, how long will some of the other organisations or societies be in existence? Come to think of it what will happen to this site after Bart completes his studies in Maynooth and moves on?

Some of you even think AI do not have any interesting talks, Eh? The lectures that AI hold are designed for the beginner AND the more advanced amateur. Go to the AI website and check out the itinery of talks for this year, you might be suprised at the quality, both of the contents and the speakers. The last AI talk in Dublin was packed with over 100 people in attendance and had to be moved to the largest lecture theatre in DCU to accomodate everyone. How many attended the last meeting of, say, the ias or sac? For those who could not make it on the night it's available on the web and a dvd copy is in the works. What other so called national organisation does that?

This infighting in the Irish amateur astronomical community is counterproductive and a complete waste of time. There are better things to do.
