Ooops, I did it again, in the immortal words of Britney Spears!
Sorry lads, I didn't mean to start up any controversy. I suppose I was just being mean and territorial. There is a valid point here though, and I don't think it's just AI bashing or bitching. I would like to see mutual acknowledgement between the various groups and I suppose Leo's point is the most valid. Perhaps we should adopt the moral high ground here and not just allow* Astronomy & Space events to be announced but perhaps encourage it. The AI bluff has been called as they have been informed of IFAS related events and they have not promoted them. I take back what I said; these events should be announced here and we, meaning IFAS members, should attend them if possible and if interested. There's no point in cutting off our noses to spite ourselves.
Shane
*who am I after all to decide what should or should not be announced here and I certainly shouldn't like to think that I would be preventing people from enjoying a good night out.

I think we're starting to see sense lads!
Why don't a massive bunch of us attend some AI talks, spread ourselves around the audience and casually start up a conversation with the people mext to us. Who knows, IFAS and www.irishastronomy.org might just come up in the conversation!
We don't need leaflets lads...word of mouth if FAR better!

Perhap because light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Yep!
Lets let the rest of the country know that there IS an alternative to AI! The word is already spreading, you just have to look at the number of people who have joined here in the last couple of months.....
....Are we anywhere near 10,000 yet?

I'm game too.
T-Shirts - TAS is getting TAS/COSMOS 2005 T-shirts printed up. If I have definite numbers of poeple who want to buy an IFAS T-Shirt, I can add that number to the list and you can all pick them up at COSMOS, or purchase via mail order? Just a thought, but it would have to be something endorsed by the IFAS committee I presume...

To be official IFAS ones, yes, probably.
However, "IFAS Ultras" t-shirts would not need approval
