Dave, my website is back online now, sorry bout that - the earlier images ought to be coming through again.

You can see some details on my scope and equipment here:

www.acquerra.com.au/astro/lexx.html

It's been something of a research project for me over the last 3 or 4 years to continually improve and see how many of the obstacles can be overcome in high res imaging. This year is turning out to be the best year so far, mainly thanks to a wonderful mirror from a local aussie optician and a nice, sensitive camera.

Now I just need more good seeing to put it to the test...

Here's an image from this morning, again the seeing was not great, and a dense fog rolled in to cause me problems :-(

regards, Bird

One more image, just for luck :-) It's interesting to compare these recent images, showing how this part of the planet has changed over a few days.

cheers, Bird

Holy smokes! Bird, is that surface detail I can see on Ganymede or is it an artefact of processing? If that is true detail on Ganymede then I am absolutely stunned! We're lucky to see detail on the disk of Jupiter here in soggy, foggy Ireland!

Hats off, you lucky, lucky (expletive deleted :D )

Phil.

I have taken images of Mars that show less detail then you have there of Ganymede   unbelievable, I really didn't think it was possible!
