Lads and lassies.
I must confess, I am very upset I never made it to
Turkey for the solar eclipse last year.
I would have been there with bells on only that
a broken Humerus and coccyx made it impossible.
(yeah, I broke my funny bone and my arse bone all at the same time)
Anyhoo!
I'm sure the more traveled of our boards have experienced
views of the sky that just don't compare.
Appart from the upcoming Solar Eclipse,
I'm just wondering would any of ye be up for traveling to an
astronomy friendly destination for a week or so, for the
experience, fun, chance to image, whatever!
While at Astrofest in London earlier this year I met a few people
in various shops that had either been on such trips or could organise
them.
I'm thinking ahead for this winter...
Anyone have any ideas, views, opinions etc blah!

Frank,
I was just thinking of the same thing during the week. I came across this place: www.astropalma.com/astropalma_eng.htm
What do you think?

Frank, now THAT is a story you must tell me sometime  My own excuse for missing the turkey sclipse pales into insignificance in comparison!
Yeah that might well be something I'd be up for. When we went to the sky at night gig, we got the whole gear, including a 14" scope shipped over by courier. It was very reasonable and worked a treat. Saves an awful lot of worry and hassle (and possibly cheaper) than bringing gear as checked luggage.
Portugal sounds a good place to me. Although I'll never forget the sky from yosemite national park in north california. THE most amazing sky I have ever seen.
Regards and Clear Skies,
Dave.

Looks great, so how do we get there, La Palma isn't an easy place to get to from here (last time I checked).
