This weekend's Sunday Times travel section has an interesting piece by Mark Hodson about trips to see the Perseids. Apparently this year's will be special because the arrival of the Perseids coincides with a new Moon. Dr. Francisco Diego of University College London (he gave a very good talk at the Galway AC star party a few years ago) will accompany a group of astro tourists on one of these trips and spend 3 nights in La Palma at 2,400 metres on the rim of an extinct volcano! Explore is the trip organiser ( www.explore.co.uk ) if anybody is interested -- seems a bit expensive to me, but might be a good opportunity to do a bit of receeing for that 'piece of real estate'.
According to the article viewing conditions won't be this good until 2015.
