New York, New York was created by John D
Hey everyone,

I am going to new york in october and i'm planning on getting an imager/ccd camera or anything i can take astrophotos with so i'd thought i'd ask the experts before going.

I will be spending about $250 - $400 dollars on an astrophotograhy device so i want something good quality with good quality pictures.

If anyone has ever been to new york and know of any astronomy shops there just give me a post. :D

I was thinking of either a meade deep sky imager or a friends digital camera (Nikon D80). So if anyone has any experience or advice(mad or sensible :D) it would be much appriciated.

Thanks in advance.
:D :D :D

John,

The DSI has been officially discontinued and OPT, for example, is selling it for $99. Be careful in your purchases since New York has a reputation for unscrupulous shops when it comes to camera gear etc. (ex. grey market goods).

PS. The DMK cameras are available for well over 100 euro cheaper. If you want a really good camera for solar, lunar and/or planetary photography, grab a DMK while overseas.

Isn't there an extra tax for shops in New York, you'd be better off getting into a car a taking a short trip to New Jersey
