I have a Canon 300d and it makes for a fine Lunar and deepsky (brighter objects) camera, comes very handy on holidays too. ! I'd get one of these before a "proper" deepsky camera if you are not certain about it.

Yea, its the "M" setting, other cameras call it "B", where you can have whatever length exposure you want, comes in very handy !.
Every DSLR I've ever heard of has this setting available.
