Oh I wish it were that simple...
I've done a bit more research and found out the following...It turns out a 50mm 1.8 isn't always what it seems on the tin. It turns out I bought a Canon 50mm 1.8 lens alright, except in an FD mount. This of course as luck will have it won't fit the 300d. On top of that, cameras nowadys are designed with the sensor further back into the camera than a film camera. Therefore, if I could get/make an adapter to let them connect into each other, it would never focus at infinity as the distance between the lens and the sensor is greater than what the lens was designed for.
Bummer!

I couldnt imagine it was that simple and you not see it (red dot etc).
I have read that some lenses wont work on DSLRs,
unless you have access to a machinist, I dont see how you can make an adapter, try looking on the web for the adapter instead.

oops, I just re-read your post, are you saying that the lens is useless with the 300D, so you'll be putting it on the market..

That's just a damned bummer Probably selling it is the only option then.
I wish manufacturers/sellers would label thier products more clearly

To be honest, I bought it off a guy on ebay and he had said in the decription that it was an FD lens. However, I just didn't know any better and didn't take any notice of the FD part of the descripttion. Lesson learnt I suppose.
i was thinking though, any way i could link it up to my webcam??
