As for the capture program, I've tried k3ccdtools, astrosnap and 2 others I cant even remember at this stage and as mad as it might sound, I always go back to the philips vrecord software supplied with the webcam, I might try out IRIS and see if I prefer it.
As for processing, I use ppmc, rgbsplit, k3ccdtools, registax and photoshop, a fairly standard processing strategy. A good while back, I had to re-flash the toucam firmware so its acts like a spc900, so it'll work on windows7.
All the same, a scope that has an effective tube length of over 8 feet long isnt for everyone. The secondary mirror alone is 3 inches wide on its minor axis, the primary mirror is 2 inches thick and is on the limits of what I can lift without covering it in fingerprints if I need to take it out of its cell, which is very rarely thankfully.

thanks Tony, I might do some more experimenting with the fps with this scope and see how it pans out when I get some more time, tbh I prefer to just go observing and see things for myself.tony h wrote: I think you did extremely well @15fps, as I understand it anything above 10fps.can be problematic.
BTY what capture program did you use.
Well done again.

I tell you something, you'd be surprised, you can get a secondhand one of these on this side of the atlantic for the same price as a new big SCT, BUT they are really expensive if you buy one in from the US, given shipping and customs and all that goes with it.martinus wrote:

Because you've no change from the miiiiiillion euro you spent on the Obsession?

I'm hoping there are wheelbarrow handles on the base.
For those who dabble in linux: I tried wxastrocapture for linux and it was a mighty flakey crashfest. Ended up using the generic UVC camera software - guvcview - which is stable and very configurable.

Thanks Dave, I forgot about rgb split will give that a try, glad I asked now.
Tried IRIS a while back as it was code based I gave up, maybe different now.
My preferred capture software is Firecapture and WcCtrl for controlling
the webcam setting I find it much better than Vrecord.
You bring back painful memories regards flashing a toucam,
I had a go with my toucam never got it to work again and it was my only
camera at the time.

Tony, did you keep the camera? It may be salvageable.
(Hope I'm not derailing the thread too much)

Hi , Yes I still have it, and if anyone thinks they can sort
it out for me, that would be great, no pressure as it’s not working now anyway.
I don’t think Dave would mind hijacking his thread…..…well I hope not.
