do ya think we should carry umberella's for the next 48 hours :D

This thing was in low earth orbit? I wonder how far they could shoot a missile? I presume an ICBM could go to the moon, but using one to shoot down a satellite would be like using a sledge hammer to crack a nut

If you read between the lines on sky, it doesn't say they shot it down, just that they hit it and don't know whether they hit the hydrazine tanks or not. To me that's USA speak for we missed but we're not letting on. So basically nothing has changed.

I could be completley wrong, just don't trust anything coming fron offical US channels on this.

Looks like they did hit the hydrazine tank - reports of large chunks re-entering over western Canada this morning.

It got blown out of the sky at about 4am, I came in from the dome (gave up on eclipse) and put on sky news where they were literally announcing it.
They are showing it on sky news now, this thing got blasted!!!
They are also saying that no debris has hit the earth, so this debris is floating around in orbit!
It was shot down by a missile, lets not get carried away by ICBMs.

Likelihood is they will time the missile to hit it over the Atlantic.

I think you mean Pacific. It is the largest water mass. When previous satellites (and Mir) were brought down, it was brought down over the Pacific.

Turns out it was the Pacific after all. Pieces came down in Western Canada, but so far nothing confirmed has been struck on the ground. The Pentagon released a very grainy video of the strike. I think at this time, there are still pieces to come down through the atmosphere, but many online articles say the U.S. is confident nothing larger than a football is all that remains of the satellite.
