Hi Keith. Valerie and I have just come in from a walk, and it is completely overcast here in Dublin.
Great to hear you enjoy some doubles. I fell for doubles back in the 1970's when I observed Mizar and Alcor with a 6-inch reflector for the 1st time. Memories, memories.
I also split Albireo at a mere 11X in the guidescope last night before seeing triple star Theta Sagittae at 40X. Nova Delphini is close by.
One observer somewhere has estimated the nova as magnitude 6.0.
Aubrey.

Sorry to hear that, Keith. I know most Friday nights in Ireland are cloudy -although I have managed to observe during 13 of them so far this year.

Finally had a few gaps in the clouds here last night and saw this nova,
No ways was it visible to the naked eye, I'd say its about mag 7-8 in the scope, not an easy one to pinpoint as its surrounded by alot of similar brightness stars. Here is a good map I found on the web for star hoping to it.
Turns out its in the 35 brightest of all time.

Well done, Dave. Welcome to the Nova Delphini Club. According to Sky and Telescope, its magnitude is about 6.5 to 7 and is fading noticeably. I have to agree with you -there are many similarly bright stars close by. Great photo too. I found the 5.7 magnitude star was vital to find first before studying the Nova.
