Slooh Space Camera video about the Nova
Slooh Space Camera video about the nova
The video takes about 3 minutes to get started then some live images from earlier this evening.
For all us clouded out people.
Here also is a gallery of images of the Nova

Nothing "possible" about this nova, its the real deal !
Looking forward to a gap in the clouds the see it, dont think I've seen a naked eye nova before,

The latest now is that it is magnitude 4.4, and causing quite a stir.

Hi,
Its nice to get a moderately bright nova. Its a long time since a really bright nova (Nova Cygni 1975).
There has been such a dearth of bright nova in the last few decades that a 5th or 6th mag one is really welcome.
Anyway, I estimated it as mag 4.9 last night (15/16 Aug 2013). I saw it faintly with the naked-eye. By the time I got the camera out, cloud was on the way.
See Variable Star Nights for a shot.
I would be grateful to get any reports and magnitude estimates so they can be reported in the next issue of Orbit.
John

I saw Nova Delphini 2013 tonight Friday 16th August at 10.30 pm. It is definitely brighter than +5.0. I found it near Theta Sagittae which is a triple star nearby. This is our 1st Nova. Valerie and I found the Coathanger asterism also. I could not estimate the precise magnitude of the Nova -the clouds rolled in and rain came at 11.00 pm.
