Peter, go read some history. Ireland was more civilized before the forced Christianisation that it has ever been since. What is it with people believing in the fantasy that Rome brought civilization?

Ok.Show me a Celtic or Germanic alphabet!
Everything on the keyboard in front of of you
is Greaco-Roman.
Leaving aside religious fairytales.
During Ireland's Golden Age,sparked by St. Patrick, when the celebrated Book of Kells was written the Irish did indeed contribute something.
Every solar and lunar eclipse for 500 years was recorded by Irish monks,
and:
The Space Bar on your keyboard.

Peter, exactly how does the fact that we happen to use the arabic alphabet serve as any marker of civilization? Are you saying the Chinese and Japanese and indeed most of Asia are uncivilised because they don't use the same alphabet as us? If so you are being insanely narrow minded and quite the racist idiot really. If not then what exactly is your point?
You want an old Irish alphabet, fine, it's called Ogham.
You want evidence of civilisation then I give you New Grange Knowth, Dowth, Tara ...... the ancient Irish had a great civilisation and an excellent knowledge of the heavens. Those kinds of great works are the product of an advanced civilisation, one that was wipped out by your mate paddy.
Just because you happen to like being Christian does not change the reality that the Christianisation of Ireland destroyed true Irish culture and ended a great civilisation.
