Hi

I just want to thank all the IFAS people who attended what became a great weekend in Galway.
Earlier in this thread I was getting worried with all the talk of Recession on penny counting that we might not get a crowd at all. But we packed out the Boardroom on the Friday evening, 45 people came to see two excellent talks by Mike Redfern and Robert Hensey both of NUI Galway.

On the Saturday we laid out 100 chairs and sold 85 tickets for the eight talks, our best showing in six years. I want to especially thank Dave Mc Donald for an incredible talk about his asteroid discovery.

Frank Ryan jnr for an inspiring talk of which myself an many others learnt alot of new info on astrophotography. One of the best talks on the subject I have ever heard, better than many professionals.

And to Carl and Dave about the funny side of their trips to Selsey. I hope also everyone enjoyed my short talk on the amusing "Uranus & other Marvels" topic, turned a few heads in disbelief.

One of the star attractions was the 3D Universe projection brought along from NUI GALWAY worth €20,000, run by four computers, quite amazing to see the Sloan Digital Sky survey in 3D as if you were moving thru the Universe.

Thanks again and hope to see all the attendees next year

Best wishes
