Registered.

By the way, for those of you who do not know, the Armagh City Youth Hostel is a stone's throw (a very small stone) away from the IMC venue.

Latest news on the International Meteor Conference in Armagh this September:

About 30 people have registered and given (full or part) payment for
accommodation. We have about 80 places available. Still plenty - however,
previous organisers tell me that places fill up REALLY fast in June, because
the slightly reduced registration fee applies till the end of this month (and
everyone, like me, always leaves things till the last minute). To be fair to
all participants, we have to allocate the places in order of (full or
partial) payment. So if you've decided you want to attend, and if you want
to stay in one of our 80 or so pre-booked places (mainly in the Armagh City
Youth Hostel + a few B&B etc.), register soon! We're very keen to see people
from the Irish amateur community at this meeting!

The best craic is if you attend the whole meeting, share a couple of beers
with other participants till late etc. But if you just want to attend single
days at a small cost for lunch and coffee, contact us (not such a hurry with
this).

The IMC website is:

David,
the very best of luck with the event.
I'm sure it will be a major success.
I'll let the club know this is on,
I'm sure there will be a few interested
(I am for sure!)

Hi all,

I am posting the following comminucae from David Asher with regards to accommodation in the hostel (I seem to be the only IFAS person going so far!) - an accommodation offer is being proposed:

Hi Seanie

In the past few days we've been carefully going through the list of IMC
participants, matching people to accommodation places etc. (all a bit
complicated because although most stay in the youth hostel not everyone
does!).

Anyway, there are no IFAS people registered for the IMC apart from
yourself. Bernadette Foley was going to attend but there was an unexpected
problem with her travel arrangements. I recall from the IFAS forum months
back that there had been a few people interested so I thought it might be
worth checking!

If there are any IFAS people wishing to join you we can still do it for an
all-in registration fee of 170 EUR, i.e. including meals, and accommodation
in the youth hostel. The latest on the IMC website says 205 EUR because we
needed to find a few extra possible accommodation spaces elsewhere, which
cost us more. We can fit one or two extra people from IFAS in the youth
hostel if we know fairly soon that they want to come. If you know anyone
from IFAS who might be interested, could you tell them that so long as we
still have accommodation available in the youth hostel, we can still afford
to offer them the 170 EUR rate?

David

This is going to be my first time to visit such an international conference aimed at one particular astronomical theme. I have never actually been to Armagh (yep, the two times TAS/MAC went I couldn't), and it is good value for money I think. Plus, I like meteors/meteorites, so having an interest helps. Its going to be like a star party for meteor enthusiasts from all over the world!

Actually, from the list on the IMC website of those who have registered to attend, I'm the only one from Ireland! C'mon guys, I don't smell THAT bad!

That's a matter of opinion. Of course, no-one is going to come on here and tell you that you smell lovely... ;)

I'm going to see if I can make it up for the Friday and/or Saturday and/or Sunday. I'll check the diary and let you know if I register. If I can make it, I can report back here on exactly how you *do* smell...
