Registration is now open for the International Meteor Conference (IMC) in
Armagh from 2010 September 16-19. All information is on the conference
website:
www.imo.net/imc2010
If you are interested, or want to become interested, in any aspect of meteors
(visual, photographic, video or radio observing, shower forecasting,
fireballs, etc.) then this meeting is for you. Every year meteor enthusiasts
from many countries gather for the IMC. The participants are mainly amateur
astronomers, and a handful of professionals. The IMC is renowned for its
relaxed and informal atmosphere - I know, I've been to several!
We (at Armagh Observatory) are pleased to be organising IMC 2010 and will be
delighted if there is a strong involvement from the Irish amateur community.
The standard registration fee of 155 EUR (increases to 170 EUR after June 30)
covers three nights accommodation, all meals from Thursday dinner to Sunday
lunch, lectures, coffee breaks, excursion, T-shirt and proceedings.
Based on attendance at previous IMCs, we have pre-booked 80 places (just over
60 in the Armagh City Youth Hostel and the rest in nearby B&B type places)
available for the standard registration fee.
If you arrange your own accommodation (e.g., single room, B&B not booked by
us, or hotel), a lower registration fee of 110 EUR (120 EUR after June 30)
applies and covers all conference benefits except accommodation and
breakfasts.
Although we encourage everyone to participate in the full programme, as the
dinners and social activities are lots of fun, attending single days of
lectures at a small cost for lunch and coffee will also be possible.
Hope to see you there!

That really does sound like a great deal. I will certainly be trying very hard to make it along. Sounds like a great couple of days.

Looks like an interesting event in a perfect location, a great September gathering for Irish amateur Astronomers.

I really want to get to this one. J squad get together? Carl should be up and running by then if he's not catching 40 winks  . It'll be interesting to see what the community thinks of PanStarrs and WISE and if its worth being an amateur any more.
