Its kinda of scary that people are only now opening the boxes and turning this thing on, when is the warranty up on this scope?

Is it not a 2 year warranty in Europe as standard? Though, usually when electricl goods are sold through Aldi and Lidl, they can come with a 3 year warranty too.

Hi, John,
Don't give up, patience pays off. The phone number in the manual is only the UK help desk, they don't supply spare parts. Indeed, they will simply pass on your request to Meade Germany. If you contact Meade Germany direct, (their phone number has been listed in past posts) they will ask you to send an email describing your problem to Mr. Sven Koenigsfeld who deals with this. His email is: sko@meade.de and at least in my case they were very helpful, and promptly despatched a replacement RA servo assembly which fixed my problems.

Replied by Rice on topic How NOT to Polar Align an LXD
At 22.00 on the 7th the sky was quite clear. I took out the LXD which I haven't had a chance to use since May and proceeded to try and set up.
By the time I was ready to align it there were some clouds to the North and to complicate matters at this time of year the pointer stars on the Plough are below roof level so I have to guess roughly where they are as I can see the handle of the Plough.
Anyway I kneel down switch on the illuminated reticle and manage with a lot of difficulty to bend down and squint through the Polar finder-
No Stars visible, well says I there's a lot of Cloud up there maybe I'm a little bit off.
So I move the Tripod back and forth a bit from my kneeling position. ... Back's hurting quite a bit by now but I keep on trying... Eventually realization dawns--- I reach up and take off the end cap from the Polar finder-- pain increasing now but I keep going, Shuffle scope back and forth again but still no joy.
Eventually in agony I give up, forget about aligning scope , I realize that I had disassembled the scope over the Summer and had moved the Latitude adjustment - although I was sure I had reset it properly, but couldn't see clearly in the dim outside light if it was correct or not.
Any way I gave up and was content with random scanning of the sky- which was great. I finished up by midnight took the scope in for the night. Checked the Latitude setting in the light inside and it was correct.
Went to bed- still annoyed with myself and wondering why I couldn't see through the darned Polar finder. Got up again after 1.30 came downstairs and decided to pull off the dust cap from the top of the Polar finder finder and look inside.
Then I remembered -- you must set the Declination to 0 degrees ie the OTA has to lie horizontal in order to see through the Polar finder other wise the light path is obstructed!
Problem solved I could go back to bed now
