Frank,
Check cables, and isnt there a reset you can do on the scope settings, also I think training the drive might help, my scopes is not an autostar, so I dont know alot about them.

Hi,
Since we tend to get a few new members when Lidl do offers like the LXD75 I thought I'd start a new thread for people to post advice, questions, help etc. to and to keep the information in one place.
Clear Skies!

Cheers lads,
She was all set up grand this morning.
I had even got around to training the drive.
I was doing a few go-to's when suddenly the DEC drive 'slipped' and
it started slewing off on its own ...stop-go-stop-go then nothing.
I did a 'reset' on the autostar and 'calibrate motors', the RA is fine but then it just reads: MOTOR UNIT FAULT.
There is no obstruction, it's balanced perfectly, and the battery is full and all cables are ok.
I rang MEADE in Germany
and I got a very vague ''we will email you a solution''
Anyone have any insight into the problem?
I cant remember where I read it but i remember someone
had somthing simalar happen and it was an 'encoder' error (or something)
I dunno.

Did you calibrate the drives before trying to train them?
If the DEC drive went off on its own like that its likley an encoder problem. The encoder wheel is basically what the scope uses to measure how far the scope has slewed. But hopefully one that is due to the unit not being calibrated properly.
Cheers,
