There are about 60 Lidl shops in the island of Ireland, so if each had, say, two LXD75s (as my local one did), that would be 120 scopes. At least eight purchasers have turned up on this thread, and nearly all had some problem with their scopes. That is not likely to be a representative sample, but it does suggest there are a lot more people around with dodgy scopes. Maybe Lidl should ship in a load of RA motors and hire some enterprising person to repair them all; that would certainly be more profitable than having them returned and shipping them back to Germany.

I wonder what the ratio of working 'scopes to faulty ones is in the Lidl supply. Any ideas anyone?

When lidl sold the etx70s, there was no where near as many issues as there are with this LXD, no comparison at all. I think meade have made a dogs dinner of this and have disuaded me from looking at anyhting thats arrives at the doorstep of lidl again, unless I hear its good from others, it worked for the etx70/skylux but not for this model.
The guys at meade need to give the managers in that chinese factory a good kicking!.
This isnt meade bashing, I'm not anti-meade, just look at my avatar.

There are approx 75 stores here (Check any Lidl brochure back page) and the nice man at the UK help desk said 300 units were sold. ie the 2 -3 per store as observed by lots of us.

I have a fork mount and dont have a lot of knowledge about equitorial mounts.
However can you take the cover off and see what if anything is happening as the motor is turning. The other thing perhaps there is a screw that tightens the Dec motor then this may be too loose or too tight.
