Great, lots of opinions all saying pretty much the same thing! That makes decision making a bit easier.

I think I will get the 10" Dob, best price I have found is in the region of €550 delivered, which I can just about afford. My family are all deserting me for Chistmas, going to my brother who lives on the other side of the world, so I feel I can treat myself to a nice present :) . I suspect if I get an 8", I will always regret not getting a 10".

Will probably get the Skylux as it is quite cheap and is optically ok.

Good decision which you won't regret. This should give you many years of rewarding observations and a generous aperture to boot! Good luck !

so what are "anti-fog" hunting binoculars ?? :o

I don't know Dave, I just copied and pasted the lot in, I don't work for Lidl

They sound cool though. I would say it has to do with the lens not fogging up :P

I have a pair of nitrogen-filled marine binos I bought at Lidl. The objectives tend not to be affected by dew when used for terrestrial targets, which I think is what is meant by anti-fogging. It would make sense for hunting binoculars.

I don't use those for astronomy because the 10x50s have bigger objectives. The 8x56 hunting binoculars have a lower magnification and the same field as the 10x50s but I would expect them to be better quality at the price stated.
