does the GRS look a little extended left right????

To me, yes It does.

It may be an effect from the surrounding areas that are changing?

As for loosing the plot....
Erm... no comment!

That was really a trick question as I lost the plot a long time ago :P
Anways, here a pic of the wierd GRS and its surrounding area, very unusual. !!

This is really amazing, I've never seen the likes of a change on Jupiter like this. The visibility of the GRS is stunning. !!

BTW, the very top of the disk got clipped off, I might fix it tomorrow.

That's extraordinary Dave! I was looking at Jupiter earlier and noticed that I could only see one belt which I thought was a little odd. This was through my Skylux in twilight so I wasn't getting much detail but I'd agree it looked strange.

Very nice clear image Dave!
The colour is bang on.
You also captured Ganymede during transit (One O clock on the disc there)

The seeing tonight was pretty good.
Terry came out to have a look at Jupiter and was very impressed that she
could see the bands and the GRS quite clearly.

Dave,
I spotted that region too. It's not the GRS - just checked Starry Night Pro. However, it is remarkably similar in appearance. Especially vivid against such a white background. GRS is only coming around the limb now on the opposite side of the equator.

Mike. I was thinking that myself.
When I was imaging Jupiter I had Starry night running and it had the GRS on the limb just as Ganymede finished transit.
I just thought that, starry night didnt have the exact positioning or something,
but it did cross my mind it wasn't the grs.
I've checked starry night again and Stellarium and they both show the GRS in a different place.
Here is what I mean....

Dave (hope you don't mind me using your image here)
I have guessed it based on the position of Ganymede to be this:

Crikey, if thats right ...what the hell is the new feature?
Although it has to be the GRS.... right?

(BTW, it looks a smiley face!) :)
