Seanie's distinctive Canadian accent makes him an auditory reference point at any star party  What he lacks in scopes, he makes up for in presence.
Anyone watch the Ice Road Truckers on Discover Channel recently? Hard not to think of Seanie when you watch it

And the person with the most votes to become IFAS Astronomer of The Year 2007 is...
Deirdre Kelleghan
Well done Dee! Thoroughly Deserved! Couldn't have gone to a nicer person!
I think John Murphy summed it all up really:
Deirdre tirelessly takes her talks to school kids, scouts and the general public. She is constantly preparing materials, and talks and does so with infectious enthusiasm.
We all know her drawings on these posts and cloudy nights where she has won sketch of the day a number of times, but I wonder how many are aware of the time she puts into public awareness of Astronomy.
Hats off to Dee.
Some of the other people who received votes were: Kieran Rooney, Dave Lillis, Dave Grennan, Carl O'Beirnes, Anthony Ayiomamitis, Bart Busschots, Colm J Cannon and even me (aww shucks folks - a few brown envelopes must have got lost in the post )
Thanks to everyone for who voted and congrats again to Dee.

You are truely deserving of the recognition. I had a feeling you'd get it considering all the great outreach work you do.
I'd love to know why I was nominated, all I did this year was buy a new scope
