Well done Deirdre, thoroughly deserved!

And to cap it all off, you now have the distinction having a special rank assigned under your name! Can you see it? ;)

Drumroll please.....

And the person with the most votes to become IFAS Astronomer of The Year 2007 is...

Deirdre Kelleghan

Well done Dee! Thoroughly Deserved! Couldn't have gone to a nicer person!

I agree fully and I would also like to extend my warmest and sincerest congrats as well!

I think John Murphy summed it all up really:

Deirdre tirelessly takes her talks to school kids, scouts and the general public. She is constantly preparing materials, and talks and does so with infectious enthusiasm.
We all know her drawings on these posts and cloudy nights where she has won sketch of the day a number of times, but I wonder how many are aware of the time she puts into public awareness of Astronomy.
Hats off to Dee.

Indeed very nicely stated and which further reinforces the selection!

Some of the other people who received votes were: ... Anthony Ayiomamitis ...

I swear on a stack of bibles this is something I never even considered or expected. I have more respect from my Irish buddies than here locally. I must move to Ireland!

PS. Seanie, we will do this again next year: I cast a vote for you and you do the same for me. Yes, we will perennially be stuck with one vote each (and no more) but at least we will keep showing up on the vote standings incessantly (at the bottom of the stack).
