Folks - sorry for those of you who tuned into the 9 O'Clock news and saw nothing... The doom and gloom of the economy seems more important...

But, to cheer you all up again, here's an image and a small bit of info:

Bloody hell Dave. I knew it was faint but I would have dismissed that on my set up. More kudos to you.

I have spent my night blinking images from the last few months but no success. You've inspired me to keep checking images, the good, the bad and the ugly because a little gem just might be in there somewhere.

Well I guess the "IFAS Astronomer of the Year 2008" is in the bag ;) Well done Fiona (and yer man Dave something-or-other) great news and an inspiration to everyone else that amateur astronomy can play an important part in the scientific discovery.

... you didn't see any alien spaceships while you were observing by any chance?

If it wasn't for the pointers I wouldn't have seen it but jeez, I got goosebumps when I looked at it! Wonderful news!!!
