STS 127 SHUTTLE VISIBLE OVER IRELAND 19 MINUTES AFTER LIFTOF

There were 12 debris events during the launch. NASA are going to have to go back over the various video footage to check that no harm was done.

A bit of a basic design flaw to put the cockpit so far back from the main rocket. Foam from the top of this may have been blown off and could have hit the shuttle.

What a sight! Amazed at the brightness and the closeness of the tank.

Another image as the pair approach Arcturus on our club's website at www.kerryastronomyclub.com/gallery-near.htm

One to remember alright. Now for the chase....

I was just thinking the same thing myself, its great to see it,

the astronomy forum over on boards is flat out aswell

...takes a bow! Kudos to Eamonn for posting this thread. Its where I heard about this and gave me the idea to start a boards.ie thread. Plugged IFAS forums in it a few times. That thread must be a record for the boards.ie astronomy forum and one of the quickest growing on boards as a whole. There were several hundred on the boards Astronomy forum at one stage. Every time I refreshed the page every few minutes there were 5 or 6 new pages!!

Similar to Dave Mc's post,
Terry and I watched the launch on the news and
then went outside to wait...

Holy cow I've never seen anything like that before.
They were so bright!

I decided not to take a picture of it so I videoed it
It's funny, Terry on one phone to her brother and me with
my Mum. :silly: Still, it captured the moment nicely.

We were lucky with the whether and
It's a sight I'll not forget for a very long time.
What's this about us maybe seeing it again in Aug!? :woohoo:
